3 Cinco de Mayo Inspired DIY Beauty Treatments

While you shop for Cinco de Mayo inspired bites and drinks (we have a weakness for chips n’ salsa and Margaritas!) you’ll want to double up on ingredients for another reason. From DIY face masks to tasty lip scrubs, we’ve rounded up three deliciously effective DIY beauty treatments to celebrate our favorite Mexican holiday.

The Avocado Mask
Think Avocado is just for eating? Think again. Avocado provides skin with an overall brighter complexion, not to mention it moisturizes and fights wrinkles.

What you’ll need:
1 ripe avocado
½ tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon natural honey
1 tablespoon plain yogurt

Cut avocado in half and scoop the flesh in to a bowl and mash with a fork. Add olive oil, honey and yogurt and stir until smooth. After your regular cleansing routine, apply a thin layer of the avocado mask and leave on for 15 minutes. After the mask has dried, rinse face with warm water.

The Salt & Honey Lip Scrub
Lip scrubs are a must and the perfect mini-spa treatment to sooth dry, chapped lips by exfoliating.

What you’ll need:
1 teaspoon of margarita salt
1 tablespoon of Honey

Mix margarita salt and honey and apply over lips while rubbing together to slough away dead skin. Rinse and apply your favorite balm.

The Vodka Facial Spritz
Use the leftover vodka from your fiesta for this refreshing spritz. Vodka is a powerful astringent that can tighten pores, get rid of grime and refresh skin.

What you’ll need:
Vodka
Argan Oil
Fresh Jasmine

Stir together vodka, Argan oil and fresh jasmine for a refreshing and hydrating facial spritz to help break any midday dry spells.
